Abstract

Our research team works to adapt and validate in French language several sleep scales for children and adolescents: The sleep disturbance scale for children (SDSC, Bruni, 1996), Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire (BISQ, Sadeh, 2009), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS, Johns, 1991).

Protocols

  • Cross-sectional study (aged 6 months to 4 years) on sleep disturbance scale for children: 421 French-speaking mothers of children aged between 6 months to 4 years completed the SDSC and the Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire (BISQ) which is specifically for young children. Of these, 105 children were diagnosed with sleep disorders (clinical group).
  • Cross-sectional study (aged 4 to 16 years) on sleep disturbance scale for children and Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire: A total of 447 French-speaking parents of children aged between 4 and 16 completed the SDSC. Among these, 66 children were diagnosed with sleep disorders by a pediatric specialist after a sleep consultation and polysomnographic recordings.
  • Cross-sectional study (aged 12 to 18 years) on Epworth Sleepiness Scale Adapted to Adolescents: 384 adolescents, between 12 and 18 years old, filled ESS-AA. Of these, 115 ESS-AA were retrospectively reviewed with adolescents admitted for overnight polysomnography and Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) because of suspected hypersomnia (85 patients with central hypersomnia and 30 with others sleep disorders).
